The Mid Norfolk Family History Society was formed in September NEW FHF Logo - BK1994 and is a member of the Family History Federation.

Our local members have an interest in Family History in general but do not necessarily have genealogical links to this part of Norfolk. However, we have a large number of distant members with interests in Mid Norfolk and we aim to assist in their research by collecting and recording family history information from within an area of approximately 10 miles around Dereham. The collection of local information is growing steadily.

Local members may borrow from our extensive library of family history and local interest publications. Requests and enquiries from members are always welcome. But please note that the Society is unable to undertake deep research. Names of MNFHS Officers are on the Contact page. A two-part Membership Application Form can be downloaded from the site (PDF format). All members may register with the e-mail information service which provides updates on current Society news.

Projects & Publications

The Society aims to record information for posterity by transcribing and recording original documents, memorials etc. for the area around Dereham. Volunteers are invited to help with our current projects or undertake new ones. Practical help and advice are always available. The results of our projects are reproduced for sale (see Publications List).

Note: If your interests are not within ”Our Area” – (see List of Parishes), you may find it more beneficial to join the Norfolk Family History Society.

A copy of the Society’s Constitution is available here.
